As a stay-at-home mom, Kristi Stanton noticed entertainment opportunities lacking both for children and parents. Either there was entertainment for the kids but not the parents, or vice versa.

Stanton began researching ideas to remedy the entertainment gap between stay-at-home parents and kids, or making "a place where you get the best of both worlds, " Stanton said in a statement. "Since I didn't find this place, I decided to create it."

Her idea became The Perfect Playdate, 463 Bay Area Blvd., which opened Dec. 17 near Baybrook Mall.

The business features an upscale coffee shop for adults and an indoor playground with a two-story castle.

Stanton's business caters to parents and their children from infant through 7 years of age, provides educational and recreational activities such as story time and music classes for kids and yoga for moms. They also host birthday parties, creative manager Jerrica Smith said.
